I guess I was
about 8 yrs old when my grandpa would take to the water i search of
fresh mullet and shad. He would let me drive the boat while he
threw the cast net far and wide - catching all the bait we needed
and then some! Grandpa has a cabin in Port Mansfield - not too
far from here, on the Arroyo Colorado. He and I must have
caught at least a thousand trout and redfish over the years -
throwing shrimp tails, gold spoons, duck hunting and wading the
shorelines for flounder. Yes, I had a bounty of love, support,
and know-how around me that would set the stage for the rest of my
